FAQs

Both fulvic acid & shilajit are the result of the breakdown of plant matter over thousands of years by certain microorganisms. They’re both chock-full of beneficial minerals, polyphenols, & organic acids. However, they differ slightly in composition.

Shilajit is formed in high, mountainous regions, like the Himalayas & Andean Mountain region. Legitimately sourced shilajit is known to contain notable amounts of fulvic acid and a wide range of minerals. Before its rise in the Western market, it was commonplace in Ayurvedic medicine to promote bodily energy & longevity; some of these effects can be attributed to the presence of dibenzo-α-pyrones

Unlike shilajit, fulvic acid doesn’t form at any specific altitudes, only undisturbed areas. It tends to offer a narrower mineral profile than shilajit, but it has shown itself to have a wider range of health benefits. Some include: improving oxidative stress modulation, supporting gastrointestinal processes, & immune boosting capabilities.

Our fulvic products are tested via the LAMAR method, a standardized test to quantify fulvic content, which is approved by the International Humic Substances Society (IHSS) & the Association of American Plant Food Control Officials (AAPFCO). Our Chain of Authenticity page contains the LAMAR results for our current batch!

The USDA’s current system for classifying organic products, does not include minerals. American Grit Fulvic Mineral Powder is a mineral supplement and therefore cannot be certified USDA organic. However, it was not made with synthetic chemicals or pesticides & does not contain toxins, please refer to our Chain of Authenticity page for more info!

The fulvic we’re distributing uses heat in the refining process, which gives it a natural, earthy flavor, akin to dark roast coffee. Taken plain or stirred into unflavored water, the taste can be rather strong to many. To disguise its smoky profile, we highly recommend mixing it into coffees, teas, or smoothies!

Beware! Any companies who claim that their fulvic or shilajit supplements have no taste, or are sweet without flavoring are likely peddling counterfeit product. Real fulvic & shilajit are from the earth, not factory sweetened!

We recommend taking ½ (50mg) of the provided scoop daily for at least the first 2 weeks of use, then increasing it to 1 scoop (100mg) daily, if you feel comfortable. Due to fulvic’s energy boosting capabilities, we suggest you include it in your morning coffee, tea, or smoothie to avoid any sleep rhythm disturbances from supplementing at night.

Yes! For every batch of fulvic we distribute, we receive a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to ensure it is safe for consumption. The results of the COA are from testing the fulvic according to the LAMAR method, a test standardized by the International Humic Substances Society.
