What Does Real Shilajit Taste Like? (And What Fakes Taste Like)

Taste, in every form, rules a lot of our spending.

Fashion? Up to your taste.

Room decor? Yet again, defer to your taste.

Food? If it’s not to your taste, it’s certainly unpleasant to buy!

Believe it or not, this link between taste and money is one which majorly affects our health.

Health & Consumption: The Taste Trend

This observable trend is exactly what leads our bottled vitamins to be sold to us in the chalky visages of the Flinstones. Or be advertised to us with aesthetically-pleasing, colorfully-labeled cube-bottles. Within them laying dots-shaped gummies coated with sugar.

All while flaunting their vitamin-packed, nutrient-saturated “health benefits”.

Unfortunately, this trend is also what leads to lies

We’re constantly sold artificial dyes, manufactured-flavorings, & fake ingredients under the masquerades of health and convenience. Just so companies can make a quick buck while maliciously targeting a market that’s desperately in need of authentic products.

Under a barrage of weaponized buzzwords & distracting packaging, we’re at risk of being taken advantage of everyday.

This is very apparent in the shilajit market. Its association with “mystical medicine” & social media fame has made it especially easy for scammers to slap words like “pure” or “ancient” on a bottle and fill it with waxes, gums, & sugars to manipulate the western public– a populace infamous for its lack of exposure to legitimate health remedies outside of its pharmacies & doctor’s offices.

The Consequences & Taste Of Shi-lie-jit

Fake shilajit, at best, is formulated with non-toxic substances that won’t do you longterm harm– other than some added sugar–, but also won’t do you any good. At worst, it’s a substance loaded with fake sweeteners, waxes, or even dangerous amounts of heavy metals

So, what do market fakes taste like? Usually, they’re sweet like candy and smell perfumed

These pleasant tastes and smells come from the addition of manufactured– sometimes even non-disclosed– ingredients. Whenever a shilajit product labeled as “pure” has these characteristics, it’s a massive red flag that you received a fake product. A fake that could genuinely be toxic for you.

The chance of receiving fake shilajit doesn’t mean that all shilajit should be sworn off. It also doesn’t mean that real shilajit has no benefits.

However, when browsing for a shilajit supplement, it’s always a good idea to ask for a product’s Certificate of Analysis. Then, take the time to read through it to verify the product is real and within safety thresholds for heavy metals, bacteria, & other toxins.

But, let’s take a step away from the fake, and into the realm of authentic shilajit.

The Taste Of Shi-legit

Believe it or not, verifying the authenticity of a shilajit product after receiving it is very taste dependent. If you receive a shilajit product and are suspicious of its makeup, you can easily conduct at-home smell & taste tests on it, which tend to be very revealing.

What does real shilajit taste like?

The answer is simple: dirt.

Shilajit is not manufactured in a candy shop. It doesn’t come fresh from the oven of your nearest small bakery. Nor from the nectary bosom of a honeysuckle vine.

Shilajit is made from the plants of eons past. Remains broken down and compressed through time and the tribulations of nature. Its taste is a reflection of the recycling processes from whence it emerged.

Of course, after its collection, some shilajit is processed with heat in order to draw out any excess metals or toxins that were present in its natural forging. So, paired with the dirt essence, sometimes a strong smoky flavor will be packed into the bottle too.

As much as the pure, un-tasty truth may sound unpleasant– or even discourage you from trying shilajit at all– I, instead, encourage you to worry not! Our dirt-covered predicament has some very clean solutions

Clean Shi-loutions

Despite the fact that pure shilajit tastes like shi–… dirt, it’s extraordinarily easy to cover its taste by simply implementing it into your daily life.

Actual shilajit is completely water soluble and a daily dose of it is typically pea-sized. Therefore, mixing a single dose into your morning tea, coffee, or smoothie will banish its smoky presence while still giving you all of its benefits!

Shilajit can also be mixed into other beverages that you may consume. And oatmeals or cereals can be used as pleasant mixing-mediums as well.

The solutions are endless and bountiful– just like the health benefits of shilajit & fulvic acid!

The Taste Of Shi-lvation

Once again, I implore that you don’t lose hope in finding legitimate shilajit that can benefit your health. And even that you don’t let the reality of nature’s true taste throw you off.

You are worth the effort.

Now, armed with the taste-truth– & some solutions to combat it– go off into the world and reap the benefits of nature’s gift to humanity
